Detail Recall

The ability to deliver training in the interruption and distraction free environment of VR means that both comprehension AND retention of lessons are improved. This is fundamental, especially for sites with complex procedures. It is impossible to enforce safety if workers did not understand the initial training, or can't remember.
Situation Exposure

VR can provide a safe environment to experience the stress of a real emergency or safety issue. In this case, workers are able to feel a taste of the stress that would exist in such an environment, and practice down regulating their own emotional reaction even as they are required to demonstrate correct procedural knowledge.
Success Recall

A VR safety experience, beyond simply being another modality form of training and testing, immerses the viewer in a situation that, when successfully navigated, actually imprints this memory of success in their own mind, as if it had actually happened. If a safety incident then happens in real life, a worker is much more likely to act with confidence, having a remembered 'feeling' of a successful outcome in the past.
